Scratch is designed to help young people (ages 8 and up) develop 21st century learning skills. As they create Scratch projects, young people learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the process of design.

The ballerina above, is my second attempt (with help from Nathaniel) at creating something for the site (with a little more time, perhaps I can create something a little more creative/interesting). On the surface, it is quit easy to put something like this together. Upon further examination, you will find the software really is quite flexible in what you can do with it. You can use its built-in backgrounds, sounds, and characters (called costumes) or you can import your own. I recommend you create an account for yourself and have a go at it…After all, it is a free program.
